Oh my goodness, it feels like aaaaggggeeesss since I shared an amazing Kent Mum in Business with you all…
I always knew that an August feature was going to be a stretch…
…and this beautiful Mum has been patiently waiting in the wings for her moment in the spotlight (which I am very grateful for)
So, without further ado...
This month I am delighted to introduce you to the amazing Sarah Smith - Kent Mum of Two and the proud owner of the Mini First Aid Mid Kent Franchise - providing baby and child first aid classes to parents and carers.
I spent a lovely morning with Sarah, we chatted all about her new venture and I got to see her in action demonstrating some of the vital skills included in her classes…

Tell us about your business and what services you offer?
I teach families first aid :)
I own and run the Mini First Aid Mid Kent Franchise and I teach new and expectant parents and grandparents, a bitesize 2 hour baby and child first aid class.
We cover what to do if you need to deliver CPR to your little one; what to do if they are choking; burns; bumps; bleeds; breaks; meningitis; sepsis and febrile convulsions.
I then provide first aid kits for anyone who needs one.
I also teach kids first aid in schools (as our classes comply with the curriculum requirements); I run a teens and adult awareness class and in the future I will be offering qualification courses such as paediatric first aid and first aid at work.
What do you offer to your clients that no-one else does?
The fact we offer ALL of the above.
Mini First Aid is the largest provider of Paediatric First Aid in the UK.
The information we provide for families outside of our class delivery, enables us to provide ongoing support to enable them to be as prepared as they can be.

Where does your inspiration come from?
Other Mums.
I found becoming a mum hard - I still do - and there are so many strong women out there that I learn from on a daily basis.
I also felt inspired to do something to support other parents when I became a mum (and my own experiences) and that is why I love my job so much.
I can provide reassurance to new parents that they will know what to do in a first aid emergency and in some way help them on their journey into parenthood.
What is your favourite part of your job?
Meeting everyone at my classes and them telling me they feel more confident at the end.
I also absolutely love my kids classes and educating young people about how amazing it is that they could save someone's life!
Also (can I have three things haha) I love that this jobs enables me to support myself, having just become a single mum but at the same time gives me the flexibility to spend so much time with my boys who are 5 and nearly 4 :)

If you would like to know more about the absolutely wonderful (and vital) work Sarah does, please visit her website here give her your support on social media and if you know anyone who would be interested in booking a class, please send them her way...
